Podcast on Washington DC’s Punk Scene and Independent Venues

Washington D.C has it all. Politics, museums, monuments, and music. Although the jazz and R&B scenes are most popular right now, the 1980s marked a time of musical creativity and change. Emerging from a generation that understood the shortcomings of their parents, the punk rock music scene began to take Washington D.C by storm. In this podcast, I examine the role that Washington D.C’s independent venues and lack of a music industry had on this particular time in music history with the help from an interview that D.C Music Rocks did with Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat and Fugazi. Thank you for listening, and I hope you enjoy it!
